Human Rights based Approach for Development (HRBA)

What the course offers

As opposed to needs-based development programming and investment, this one week course provides participants with the contemporary understanding and strong grounding on the linkage between human rights and (human) development, and the ability to integrate and apply key principles of Human Rights-Based Approaches to Development Programming (HRBA) in their own context and practice within their work, organizations, and institutions.

You will get acquainted with ways and tools for applying the principles and tools related to the Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA), and through your own action planning, acquire theoretical knowledge and gain practical skills regarding HRBA and professional competences to apply HRBA to development planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and as applicable to advocacy within the human development work context. You will understand the essential elements of key human rights instruments and mechanisms (national, regional, and international) supporting HRBA to development, and identify the key limitations and challenges of HRBA through exposure to real-life cases and examples.
