
COMESA Youth Leaders Bootcamp
MS Training Center for Development Cooperation (MSTCDC) in partnership with Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and YouLead Summit is organizing the first COMESA Youth Policy Influencers Boot Camp 2019 edition which will be hosted by MS TCDC in Arusha, Tanzania from the 14th to 18th, December 2019. This event will bring together key youth policymakers in government, youth business leaders and youth NGO leaders working on democratic governance and socio-economic development within COMESA Member States.
The BootCamp will be a multidisciplinary engagement, encompassing socio-economic and political participation, and representation of youth voices in governance processes that aims at supporting ‘Innovation and Learning for Change Makers’ from selected COMESA Member States in the form of capacity strengthening. Gender-based inclusion will be a vital issue of focus, looking at mitigating hindering factors for gender and participation in socio-economic and political, policy and development processes within the COMESA framework and on a country by country context.
The main focus will be on the role of youth in influencing cross-border policy and what kind of change narrative the youth could drive across COMESA in line with regional inter-state cooperation, trade and commerce facilitation, and the rules of the game in trade and development. Further discussions will be centered on: Youth-centric experiences, The state of the policy environment with regard to equal access to opportunities for youth, Policy implementation gaps as evidenced by the youth experiences, capacity gaps and measures to address these concerns.
2019 Boot Camp Edition: Group One Countries
The Bootcamp will bring together three delegates each from 11 COMESA Member states which include the Arab Republic of Egypt, State of Eritrea, Kingdom of Eswatini, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Republic of Kenya, Republic of Malawi, Republic of Rwanda, Republic of Sudan, Republic of Uganda, Republic of Zambia and Republic of Zimbabwe while the other COMESA Member States will be covered in 2020.
