Training Course in Fundamentals of Community-led Advocacy in Mining, Oil, and Gas
Arusha July. 10.2020. MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MS-TCDC) and its partner are pleased to announce a new course offering in Community-led Advocacy in Mining, Oil, and Gas, planned to start September 21, 2020.
With its partner HakiRasilimali, MS TCDC will deliver the course for Community-based civil society and practitioners interested in improving the management of oil, gas, and minerals leading to the amplification of citizen voices and influencing policies and practices in the extractive sector.
The course will be offered Face-to-face, at the MS TCDC campus in Usa River, Arusha. Our approach focuses on learning through participants' own experiences, expert talks, field and case studies, and uses policy labs to allow participants to apply new knowledge to their roles. The course will encourage participants to examine and debate policy decisions from various angles.
"The co-created incubator is exciting as it will complement our role in providing space for learning, reflection and capacity building to leaders across the region in the context of extractives," said Ms. Sara Ezra Teri, Programs Director, MS TCDC.
"The long-awaited journey to inform and purposeful community engagement has just started," said Mr. Amani Mhinda, Chairman of the Incubator Committee.
"The incubator will result in extractive host communities' ability to push for demand-side driven advocacy agenda, hence influencing sector policies and practices. A team of subject experts was involved in designing the draft course curriculum and modules, which was later validated by key stakeholders and trainers," Ms. Racheal Chagonja, Executive Director – HakiRasilimali.
MS TCDC will communicate the application date on its website and social media handles. Follow @MSTCDC twitter, Facebook for the announcement.
