Understanding Civic Space: Skills for Development Practitioners and Human Rights Defenders
In this course, we interrogate the question: Is the political and civic space Shrinking? Shifting? Expanding? Closing? or Opening? Through practical cases and exercises, participants will gain a critical understanding of how public policy, development options, and political realities interact at the global, regional, national, and local levels. In particular, participants will be engaged in issues that affect their lives and develop skills that will enable them to contribute to policy-making - accessing information, engaging in dialogue, expressing dissent or disagreement, and joining to express their views.
