Job Summary
As the Head of the Leadership and Governance Academy (LGA), you will be responsible for leading, growing, and managing the LGA’s portfolio. This role involves directing key initiatives in research, youth leadership, civic space, and social movements, as well as developing strategic partnerships and overseeing the academy’s programs across Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate LGA’s initiatives, including research, social dialogues, youth leadership and residency programs.
- Develop and expand the LGA portfolio to position MS TCDC as the leading governance and leadership hub in Africa.
- Strengthen and manage existing partnerships with organizations like DFC, LSF, GIZ/AU, and others.
- Develop proposals and pursue funding opportunities to ensure the growth and sustainability of LGA’s programs.
- Seek and manage consultancy and advisory service opportunities.
- Represent MS TCDC at national, regional, and international forums, ensuring visibility and advocacy for governance and leadership.
- Oversee the development and facilitation of training programs related to governance, leadership, and development.
Qualifications
- A degree in Governance, Public Policy, Leadership, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- At least 5 years of experience in program management, governance, leadership, or consultancy.
- Proven track record in partnership building, fundraising, and proposal development, demonstrating a wide network of influence and credibility within various sectors.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with high-level stakeholders, including government leaders, civil society, and private sector representatives.
- Strong activist background, with demonstrated legitimacy in advocating for socio-economic and political change.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams, manage complex projects, and lead initiatives that foster community engagement and development.
- Willingness to relocate to Arusha, Tanzania, and travel on occasion.
Additional Competencies
- A credible voice in governance and leadership discussions, with proven experience in mobilizing and influencing political and socio-economic decision-makers.
- Experience in working with grassroots movements, fostering community resilience, and promoting inclusive governance.
