VACANCY: DIGITAL LEARNING SPECIALIST

MS TCDC secures the services of a self-motivated Digital Learning Specialist to oversee and implement our online learning and knowledge outcomes. This role is part of the Learning and Training Unit, and the successful candidate works closely with relevant staff across the organization to design, develop, maintain, and implement learning interventions for over 1,000 professionals and young people globally each year.

The Digital Learning Specialist is expected to develop a viable digital learning and knowledge management strategy and plan that aligns with the Centre’s vision to capture, share, and extend learning and knowledge through online platforms. The role is integral in maintaining the institution’s reputation for quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

At MS TCDC, we focus not only on producing relevant learning designs but also on understanding the impact of our efforts. The team consists of learning specialists, and you will complement us by converting our designs and learning concepts into engaging digital content tailored for professionals and young leaders. We develop self-paced courses, online training, face-to-face training, and a combination of both—referred to as "blended learning."

JOB SUMMARY

The Digital Learning Specialist will be responsible for designing and developing innovative digital learning experiences aimed at inspiring young professionals and leaders. With a strong foundation in instructional design, learning experience design, and data-driven decision-making, the Specialist will create engaging digital content that enhances learning outcomes.

This role involves analyzing data from learning management systems, designing user journeys to improve the learning experience, and creating visually appealing graphics and illustrations. The Specialist will ensure that digital learning solutions are user-centred, accessible, and impactful for professionals and young leaders globally while guiding the team in developing effective and engaging content.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Technical Specialist in Learning Design for Short Professional Courses

  • Collaborate with project owners, end-users, and subject matter experts to develop innovative learning designs.
  • Support TCDC faculty and subject matter experts in creating interactive and engaging e-learning activities.
  • Develop creative and motivational learning resources, including video productions and multimedia materials, for various initiatives such as short professional courses, the Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA II), Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC), and GIZ EnACT Zambia communities.
  • Contribute to the TCDC Learning Committee’s sub-committee on Digital Learning, bringing forward creative ideas and expertise.
  • Act as the TCDC focal point in the ActionAid Denmark (AADK) Digital Capacity and Learning Working Group, ensuring alignment with global digital learning strategies.

 

2. Oversight and Administration of Digital Solutions

  • Manage relationships with service providers to ensure smooth operations of digital platforms and systems.
  • Regularly troubleshoot, evaluate, and implement solutions to enhance platform functionality.
  • Recommend and lead decisions on necessary platform updates or changes.
  • Establish support systems and provide user guidance for learning management systems and authoring tools.
  • Ensure platforms meet organizational and user needs effectively and efficiently.

 

3. Ensuring Excellence in Digital Learning Quality

  • Continuously improve learning design methods and tools to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Conduct user studies and analyse data to inform adjustments and improvements to digital solutions.
  • Document lessons learned from digital learning projects to guide future initiatives.
  • Research and implement innovative digital learning approaches, including mobile-friendly solutions.
  • Develop and maintain online instruction platforms and other digital learning products aligned with TCDC’s goals.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain classrooms and e-learning tools to ensure uninterrupted operations.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Education Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in developing digital learning content, with at least three years in education or a related industry.
  • Expertise in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and authoring tools (preferably Articulate 360), along with adult learning experience.
  • Strong video animation, graphical design, and creative skills to produce engaging digital content.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic organizational context and communicate with young professionals and diverse audiences.
  • A self-driven approach to work, excellent time and resource management skills, and flexibility to work outside regular hours when necessary.
  • Intercultural work experience is an advantage, along with a passion for working with young people and the ability to engage with this target group.
  • Experience in thematic areas such as feminism, climate justice, rights-based approaches, and organizational development, as well as familiarity with ActionAid Denmark/ Danida Fellowship Centre is an added advantage.
  • Key Skills and Abilities: Strong project management skills, in-depth knowledge of online learning and instructional design, excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork abilities.
