The Global Social Movement Centre (MOVE) was set up in 2022 to provide an ecosystem for Human Rights Defenders and their movements to be supported in all aspects of their work through the different phases of their struggles.
Currently, it entails an integrated set of capacity-strengthening activities for activists in social movements, core movement support functions for social movements, including funding and action research on relevant movement trends.
Today, MOVE consists of 5 regional hubs located in West Africa, East Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, and Latin America. MS TCDC is the East Africa hub!
GOLD is a global capacity development program available both digitally and offline, which aims to nurture and sustain young people’s movements by providing skills, analytical competencies, and tools to organise their constituencies, set visions, analyse contexts and mobilise support to pursue a strategy while keeping the movement alive and accountable to the constituencies.
The Free School is an innovative community-driven initiative to provide free and open access to education for all. Established at the New Move offices, this school aims to create an inclusive learning environment where anyone can teach and anyone can learn. The initiative fosters knowledge-sharing without financial barriers, empowering individuals through education and skill-building.
You are welcome to sign up as a facilitator (we are all teachers!) or a participant (we are all learners!)
The GOLD courses offer free, self-paced learning opportunities designed to equip you with essential tools and inspiration for your organising efforts. Whether your movement is just getting off the ground or you are in the process of evolving and growing, we have resources tailored for every stage of development.
